Meet Will Smith – Desktop Technician on GCubed’s USAASC Contract

Q: What are your roles & responsibilities at GCubed?
A: I manage and maintain all hardware and software used by USAASC (U.S. Army Acquisition Support Center), including iPhones, VTC units, desk phones, desktops, and laptops. In addition, I have a large role in change management and provide input in upgrades across the organization.

Q: What brought you to GCubed?
A: I contacted Mr. Green through a friend just after graduating from college and was taken on as an intern. I spent half my time at the corporate office researching federal contracting requirements and designing implementations, in between standard intern work like organizing and doing inventory; the other half was spent at CAA (Center for Army Analysis) learning the culture and environment associated with being a contractor at a government facility.

After two months I was brought on full time and worked as a desktop technician at CAA. After a year of mastering the responsibilities associated with working on desktop machines, I was transferred to USAASC and took on the additional roles listed above.

Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I was born in Fort Belvoir, but I grew up in Stafford, VA.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside the office?
A: During the warmer months, I enjoy meditating and walking through the parks near my apartment. Throughout the year, I tend to read philosophy literature, watch artsy movies, and play board games with loved ones.

Q: Most challenging part of the job?
A: Issues requiring an immediate solution.

Q: Most rewarding part of the job?
A: I love the feeling of solving a novel problem and everything working afterwards.

GCubed Founder & CEO Honored by Stafford County Board of Supervisors

Congratulations to our Founder & CEO Vernon Green Jr. for being recognized by the Stafford County Board of Supervisors on February 18, 2020 for his contributions to our community! Mr. Green shared a statement about the honor:
 

“Last night I had the honor and privilege to be recognized by the Stafford County Board of Supervisors for our contributions to our community. I am grateful and humbled by the recognition and the lady I shared the stage with LIVED history! Mrs. Jackson is 88 years old, all here in Stafford and was one of the graduates of the all black high school in Fredericksburg when Stafford didn’t allow blacks in high school. To share the stage with her was an honor! Further, to see the women and minorities sit on the Board shows the progress Stafford has made.

I want to thank my family for their support! I want to thank my team for all of the hard work that goes into all we do. I may have received the award but it is a team win! I want to thank the Stafford Board of Supervisors for this honor. And finally, I want to thank the Stafford community, partner organizations, teaches, counselors; all those we work with to make a difference in our community!

Meet Cevonn Green – GCubed’s Junior Financial Analyst

Q: What are your roles & responsibilities at GCubed?
A: I am a Junior Financial Analyst here at the corporate office. Running payroll, filing receipts and vendor files, and making sure everyone has access to their timesheet are my main responsibilities.

Q: How long have you been with GCubed?
A: I started working here in October 2018 as an HR Assistant. I did mostly recruiting and filing personnel documents. In March 2019 I was promoted to Payroll Specialist, which is when I started working with Kelly Shores (Finance Manager) and took on many of my current responsibilities. I was promoted to Junior Financial Analyst on January 1, 2020.

Q: What led to you working at GCubed?
A: After I graduated high school, I started working for a small painting company. Shortly after I was hired, the owner’s car broke down and she needed some extra money to do repairs and I was let go. My parents agreed that I needed a new job and set up an interview for me with Dee Walker, GCubed’s HR Manager.

Q: Where did you grow up?
A: My dad was in the Army, so I was born in Fort Bragg, NC. I lived there until I was six, and then my family moved to Wahiawa, Hawaii until I was nine. After that we moved to Stafford, Virginia where we live currently.

Q: What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
A: Saying I am going to work out, but going back to bed instead.😁 I like to read and play games on my iPad like Diner Dash. My favorite book right now is tied between the Lost Symbol by Dan Brown and Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris.

Q: Most challenging part of the job?
A: Following along in conversations that are spoken mostly in acronyms.

Q: Most rewarding part of the job?
A: The most rewarding part of my job is getting to help everyone. The people here are very nice. 

Meet Tracy Bruner – GCubed’s Operations/Program Manager

Q: What are your roles & responsibilities at GCubed?

A: I oversee a portion of GCubed’s contracts – working with each contract’s project manager and department managers here at corporate to ensure that they have everything needed to accomplish the mission. Working with department managers, I helped to establish new recruiting and Project Management Framework policies.

I also contribute to the recruiting efforts and work with business development on proposals. Since my arrival at GCubed, I’ve gotten the company set up with an applicant tracking system, improving the efficiency of our recruiting efforts.

Q: What brought you to GCubed?

A: I heard about GCubed from Kelly Shores (Finance Manager) and she spoke about how much she loved working here and the culture. After meeting with Mr. Green and getting a tour of the office, I felt like this was a place where I could see myself working. Being a veteran myself I love the fact that taking care of veterans is at the top of the GCubed’s culture.

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: I grew up in eastern Tennessee, in Halls Crossroads, just outside of Knoxville. I graduated from Halls High School and enlisted in the United States Army a year after graduation. I spent the first half of my career in the infantry and the rest in recruiting.

Q: Life outside the office?

A: I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, and guitar.

Q: Most challenging part of the job?

A: Managing all the requirements and trying to maintain a good work-life balance.

Q: Most rewarding part of the job?

A: Taking care of the employees and helping the company in any way that I can.
