Will is off to a full time position at CAA-AMSO as a Desktop Support Specialist. We enjoyed working with him at the corporate office and know he will be a great addition to the contract team. Congrats, Will!

Employee Spotlight

When Kaniz started working at CAA, the database environment needed a lot of attention and had many performance issues. She made it her mission to make improvements each day, and soon became an invaluable member of the team. An average day includes responding to troubleshooting help tickets, performing server system checks, and working on special projects as requested by the customer.

Away from the office, Kaniz loves to cook and work on decorating her home. She cites her mother’s talents as a home cook and creative decorator as a source of inspiration. She enjoys movies and sees them as a great opportunity to understand different perspectives. Kaniz loves spending time with her son and daughter.

Her experience with GCubed thus far has been very rewarding. In addition to all the people she has met, her position has given her the chance to share her knowledge as a SQL Database Administrator. Kaniz is eager to continue learning and growing in her position at CAA.

Internship Success Spotlight

My experience with the Center for Army Analysis and GCubed was great! A large part of my duties included inventorying computer systems and verifying part numbers and serial numbers for turn in. This required me to pay great attention to detail, a skill I was able to improve upon and now use at my current position as an Imagery Analyst. My new position also allows me to use the clearance I obtained through GCubed.

Additionally, my time at CAA afforded me the opportunity to learn protocol for working in a secured access government facility. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity GCubed provided me.

Above & Beyond Customer Service

GCubed is pleased to share positive feedback from our customers at the Center for Army Analysis (CAA). Dennis McDowell, Shaunda Jones, and Vinh Vuong were recently recognized by the leadership:

Dennis has taken command of the help desk in a way that ensures ticketing actions are streamlined and tracked. He is meticulous and proactive in his approach to getting things done. He is focused and extremely professional in the execution of his duties. Users have nothing but positive comments about the support he provides.

Shaunda has proven herself to be invaluable. In addition to her primary role as one of the system administrators, she has distinguished herself as the onsite lead in that she is able to perform both roles simultaneously and seamlessly. She has even gained a reputation with some of our external partners, most notably the NEC, as an individual who is about the customer’s business.

Les DeShield
CTO, CAA

Some of CAA’s assets were unexpectedly quarantined without warning recently, causing a work stoppage for some of the customers. Vinh Vuong immediately assessed the situation and leveraged his contacts at the Network Enterprise Center (NEC) for assistance. He was able to work with the SME of the identified issue and get it resolved in a timely manner. It is my opinion that this issue would not have been resolved so quickly had it not been for Mr. Vuong.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Riddick Entertainment Summer Festival! A great time was had by all. Congratulations to all of the Community Award winners. A special thank you to Tiffany Gourdine and Marlo Parker for helping make this event a success. Thanks to Desert Wind Band, Eli the YouTube sensation, and DJ Choice for providing entertainment.

Thank you to Pastor Lacey and Touch Hearts Christian Center for providing 75 backpacks filled with school supplies for the community. We appreciate them organizing this effort. The backpacks were handed out to children at the Riddick Entertainment Summer Festival.

Contract Wins

GCubed has been busy! Through our strong partnership with NetCentrics, we are on a great Encore III team and are already starting to review opportunities.

We are also proud to announce that we have finalized our GSA Professional Services Schedule. A General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule is one of the most valuable contracts a business can have to facilitate Federal business development. Under the GSA Schedules (also referred to as Multiple Award Schedules and Federal Supply Schedules) Program, GSA establishes long-term government-wide contracts with commercial firms to provide access to over 10 million commercial supplies and services that can be ordered directly from GSA Schedule contractors.

We are grateful for our amazing team of experts, technicians, and managers for making this possible. We continue to believe that an organization’s greatest asset is its people.

We are in the final stages of completing our GSA IT 70, and will have more news on that coming up!

UMUC Alumni – Vernon Green Jr.

Founder & CEO Vernon Green Jr., graduate of University of Maryland University College, sat down with UMUC recently to discuss his transition from the Army to the civilian workplace. He offered advice to veterans on setting themselves up for success and thriving in the civilian workplace. Watch his feature below!

Employee Spotlight

I am GCubed’s Project Manager, overseeing quality assurance and maintaining compliance with our customers. I oversee the security guards who are part of the GCubed Security Services team at the Center for Army Analysis on Ft. Belvoir. Problem solving, documenting progress, and maintaining daily communications between the guards and the corporate office is an average day for me.

While most of my time these days is spent working, maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly are important to me. I’m an animal lover and have bred and raised dogs in the past; I hope to have more time to care for a dog again soon. I also have a background as an auto mechanic.

I value being prepared and staying organized, allowing me to be ready to tackle any task that comes my way. I am pleased to say that I am respected and valued by my peers, as well as supervisors. As GCubed works to expand its security services to new locations across the nation, I look forward to playing a role in that effort.

Hoop 4 Hope – a Slam Dunk!

This event was about more than basketball games and who won; it was about the relationships and trust built within the community. Children were provided a safe environment in which to develop strong social skills and build lasting relationships. Our greatest source of pride is when we are given the opportunity to build and give back to the community.

The day was a tremendous success, with the community coming out and enjoying not only the basketball games, but face painting, moon bounces, water balloons, and a DJ.

Special Thanks to our Sponsors and Volunteers

Riddick Entertainment provided the grill and volunteers who prepared the food. State Farm joined us and raffled off some great items. Slammin Cuts organized the 3 on 3 tournament and provided the DJ.

We look forward to continuing to serve our community!

Business Development 101 – GCubed’s First Small Business Course

As a small (but rapidly expanding!) business, we believe it is imperative to lift up our fellow small business owners and entrepreneurs. Building a community in which every member thrives and succeeds not only strengthens the local economy here in Stafford, but also encourages more people to take the leap and follow their dreams.

Our first small business course, Business Development 101, was attended by six local entrepreneurs in search of the “road map” – the path to success that is often filled with long hours and sleepless nights, and powered by the desire to create a lasting impact and change lives. Our team of experts here at the corporate office covered strategic planning, opportunity identification & qualification, finance, recruiting, and HR regulations.

We look forward to offering more courses and building up our local businesses.

GCubed is Relocating!

We are excited to announce that we are moving to Stafford in October! Our new office features more space and exciting resources – essentials as we continue to hire new employees and take on new clients.

We are grateful for the many opportunities the Fredericksburg business community has given us, and are eager to make new partnerships in Stafford.

Stay tuned for details on our Open House taking place later in October!
