Employee Spotlight

Our ReNew program has just completed a busy round of holiday giving to families and individuals of Stafford County, VA. Through our Thanksgiving Dinner Basket and Christmas Dinner Basket Drives, 150 turkeys with all the ingredients necessary to cook a hearty, warm meal for the holidays were distributed.

Our G3CS meals reached a diverse population from Conway, Margaret Brent, and Rock Hill Elementary Schools, including Title 1/ low-income schools Hampton Oaks & Rocky Run. In addition, several meals went to Garrison Woods Apartments (Section 8), Aquia Terrace Apartment Homes (Active Military Community), and all the housekeeping staff for Stafford Commerce Center.

We look forward to doing even more in 2019!

Employee Spotlight

When Kaniz started working at CAA, the database environment needed a lot of attention and had many performance issues. She made it her mission to make improvements each day, and soon became an invaluable member of the team. An average day includes responding to troubleshooting help tickets, performing server system checks, and working on special projects as requested by the customer.

Away from the office, Kaniz loves to cook and work on decorating her home. She cites her mother’s talents as a home cook and creative decorator as a source of inspiration. She enjoys movies and sees them as a great opportunity to understand different perspectives. Kaniz loves spending time with her son and daughter.

Her experience with GCubed thus far has been very rewarding. In addition to all the people she has met, her position has given her the chance to share her knowledge as a SQL Database Administrator. Kaniz is eager to continue learning and growing in her position at CAA.

EmPOWERment Panel

Internship Success Spotlight

My experience with the Center for Army Analysis and GCubed was great! A large part of my duties included inventorying computer systems and verifying part numbers and serial numbers for turn in. This required me to pay great attention to detail, a skill I was able to improve upon and now use at my current position as an Imagery Analyst. My new position also allows me to use the clearance I obtained through GCubed.

Additionally, my time at CAA afforded me the opportunity to learn protocol for working in a secured access government facility. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity GCubed provided me.

Above & Beyond Customer Service

GCubed is pleased to share positive feedback from our customers at the Center for Army Analysis (CAA). Dennis McDowell, Shaunda Jones, and Vinh Vuong were recently recognized by the leadership:

Dennis has taken command of the help desk in a way that ensures ticketing actions are streamlined and tracked. He is meticulous and proactive in his approach to getting things done. He is focused and extremely professional in the execution of his duties. Users have nothing but positive comments about the support he provides.

Shaunda has proven herself to be invaluable. In addition to her primary role as one of the system administrators, she has distinguished herself as the onsite lead in that she is able to perform both roles simultaneously and seamlessly. She has even gained a reputation with some of our external partners, most notably the NEC, as an individual who is about the customer’s business.

CTO, CAA

Some of CAA’s assets were unexpectedly quarantined without warning recently, causing a work stoppage for some of the customers. Vinh Vuong immediately assessed the situation and leveraged his contacts at the Network Enterprise Center (NEC) for assistance. He was able to work with the SME of the identified issue and get it resolved in a timely manner. It is my opinion that this issue would not have been resolved so quickly had it not been for Mr. Vuong.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Riddick Entertainment Summer Festival! A great time was had by all. Congratulations to all of the Community Award winners. A special thank you to Tiffany Gourdine and Marlo Parker for helping make this event a success. Thanks to Desert Wind Band, Eli the YouTube sensation, and DJ Choice for providing entertainment.

Thank you to Pastor Lacey and Touch Hearts Christian Center for providing 75 backpacks filled with school supplies for the community. We appreciate them organizing this effort. The backpacks were handed out to children at the Riddick Entertainment Summer Festival.

Extraordinary Young Minds

The EYM program touches on personal responsibility, education, dream building, and the importance of foundational core values. We meet every third Sunday of the month at the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office from 4pm-6pm.
